The term groupthink refers to a process of group decision-making that is not based on a rational decision- making process, but rather the need for consensus and harmony. The concept was originally coined by a research psychologist named Irving Janis in 1972. Read the class resources on groupthink and research an example in the media of groupthink that happened in the last decade that pertains to your life. Be sure to explain why you believe the event is an example of groupthink.
Create a digital presentation (10-12 slides) about a recent example of groupthink and its consequences, citing three to five scholarly sources throughout (does not include dictionaries and encyclopedias).
Include the following in your presentation:
- A description of the event/story.
- Explain why you think it is a good example of
- Explain how groupthink has positively or negatively affected the event/story in your
- Recommend ways for resolving this case of
Cite three to five scholarly resources including the course textbook and any media about groupthink in proper APA formatting.
Next, record yourself in a 5-7-minute video explaining your presentation, using a digital recording application like Zoom, Loom, or Canva. Watch the attached “Video Best Practices” document before you record:
