Assessment Description
It is important for you to know about basic ethical guidelines and boundaries at behavioral clinics. To obtain this information, you will interview someone at a clinic.
Interview
In your interview (preferably in person, but by phone or virtually is acceptable) with a supervisor, manager, behavioral health technician, or paraprofessional, at behavior health clinics, ask them about the following:
- Ask about ways of maintaining appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Ask the behavioral health professional what they perceive the difference to be between boundary violation and boundary extension and provide an example for each.
- Ask how they engage in supervisory consultations to resolve ethical dilemmas.
Presentation
After your interview, using a digital presentation software application, create a presentation of 8-10 slides (not including the title and reference slides), and address the following:
- Summarize the interview with the staff person at the clinic.
- Explain how the clinic maintains appropriate boundaries with clients, and why maintaining appropriate boundaries is needed.
- Describe how the clinic explains the differences between boundary extensions and boundary violations by providing an example of each.
- Explain how a behavioral health worker engages in supervisory consultation to resolve ethical dilemmas.
- Include speaker notes (70-100 words) with proper APA citations.
- Cite a minimum of three to five scholarly sources in the presentation.
If using PowerPoint, refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
