BHS 420 Topic 4 Assessment: Moral Development in Adolescence

$15.00

Description

Assessment Description

Adolescence can be a conflicting time because it is wrought with significant physical and cognitive changes. Both physical and cognitive changes, as well as trauma, can cause significant social and emotional disturbances. This may increase the chance of developing delinquent behavior as an adolescence.

Through this exercise, you will be applying psychological theories to historical contexts, analyze moral reasoning stages, and understand the complexities surrounding criminal profiling.

For this assignment, select any media that features a delinquent adolescent that has committed a violent crime. Be sure to look ahead to the assignment prompts to confirm you select someone you can apply to each bullet.

Using three to four scholarly sources (your textbook can be considered one of these sources), write a 750-1,250-word analysis to address the following prompts:

  • Outline Kohlberg’s stages of moral development.
  • Explain how these stages help us understand moral reasoning.
  • Summarize the criminal behavior and the dilemma associated with committing the crime.
  • Based on what you know about the selected adolescence crime , describe which aspects of their behavior might provide insights into their moral reasoning. Explain specific actions or patterns that could be indicative of this stage of moral development.
  • Explain two to three physical and psychological factors that may have adversely impacted this adolescent’s well-being that contributed to their delinquent behavior.
  • Analyze how cognitive changes of the selected adolescent differ from an adult with the same criminal history.
  • From a Christian viewpoint, argue whether this person deserve forgiveness or not. Use biblical references to support your answer.
