Select a young adult author whom we are not reading as part of this class. It is recommended that you do this assignment on the author of the book that you will read in your final project in Topic 7, but you could select a different author from the following webpages:National Book Award for Young People´s Literature

Research that author and their works using some of the following tools:

Visit the author´s and/or publisher´s website.

Visit Adolescent Literacy.org.

Use the YALSA website.

Use the Children´s Literature Comprehensive Database in the GCU Library.

Follow the author on Twitter or Facebook or other social media platforms.

Locate interviews with the author on YouTube and other media websites.

Write a well-organized 750-800-word essay about the author including the following information:

1. A brief biography of the author
2. A short summary of the work(s) the author is best known for
3. An overview of some basic themes that the author deals with in their work
4. An analysis of how the author views their role as a young adult author or their perspective on young adult literature or writing in general.
5. A discussion of how the author´s works bring value to an English classroom or why students might enjoy reading the author’s works.

Ensure that you address all aspects of the assignment listed above and include a thesis statement and effective, well-organized paragraphs.
