Read and report on one young adult book found on the YALSA website or a book referred to within the textbook.
Create a 15-20-slide PowerPoint presentation that includes the following for the selection:
- Title, author, publisher, and date in correct APA format, and an image of the book jacket
- Reading level
- Genre: Explain how it fits the
- Brief overview of Avoid spoilers.
- Identify themes within the text that are part of the
- Include a distinct and important passage for this Explain the significance.
- Provide background on the author such as short biography, highlights on website, and other written
- Has this text received awards? What notable attention has the text or the author received?
- Has this book been challenged? If so, upon what grounds was it challenged?
- What interdisciplinary connections can be made to this book?
- What kind of reader might enjoy this book? Would this be a good text with which to engage a reluctant reader? Why or why not?
- Discuss why this book should be in the secondary English teacherĀ“s
- What scholarly research has been done on this text, author, or genre? Cite and summarize two to three relevant scholarly sources that aid in a teacherĀ“s understanding and classroom presentation of the
- Provide a sample detailed lesson plan idea that might help engage the students with the content of this book. You may adapt a lesson you find online; be sure to properly cite and reference your source.
Your presentation should be visually appealing and informative for teachers and readers.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
This assignment must be uploaded in TWO places:
First, upload your Final Project Presentation to the Assignment submission, as this is where you will be graded and receive instructor feedback on your presentation.
Second, post your completed project in the Final Project Forum to share with your classmates. Your instructor may assignment participation points for posting your project.
