Mr. Miller is a 42-year-old male with complaints of diarrhea for 3 days with streaks of blood in stool, nausea, without vomiting, headache and lightheadness. He is taking kaopectate which has not helped his diarrhea. he reports recent travel to Chicago for few weeks ago. he admits consuming rare steaks and burger during his stay. physical examination and vital signs reveal fever, decreased skin turgor, diffuse abdominal pain and tenderness, hyperactive bowel sounds and positive guaiac test on rectal exams.

R.M. a 42-year-old male, who presents with 3-day history of diarrhea with mucous and blood present preceded with by crampy abdominal pain. He also has a fever, headache, and orthostatic hypotension. He complains of nausea but denies any vomiting. He denies any past medical history. No family members exhibit any symptoms. Only risk factor is recent travel to Chicago to a convention.
