$20.00

Description

Scenario One
Sandra is a 52-year-old female presenting with complaints of persistent sadness, anxiety, and “empty mood.” She is a current smoker and states her smoking has increased over the past month as it “helps calm her nerves.” Her past medical history includes GERD and hypertension. She is currently taking HCTZ and Protonix daily. Sandra also denies any history of seizures.

Scenario Two
JR presents with complaints of pain, numbness and tingling in his legs, easily fatigued, and trouble keeping his balance. His current medications include metformin 1000 mg BID, Synjardy XR 5/1000 mg daily, Tresiba 20 units SC daily, and rosuvastatin 10 mg daily. It is clear by looking at his medication list he has diabetes.

Scenario Three
Zolpidem has a half-life of three hours. If a patient takes 10 mg at 10 pm, the blood level at 7 am will be 1.25 mg. Drug half-life is defined as the amount of time it takes for the amount of drug in the body to decrease by half (Rosenthal & Burchum, 2021).

Scenario Four
A mother brings her son David into the clinic with complaints of getting into trouble at school, frequent fidgeting, not listening to the teacher, talking a lot, and interrupting classmates. Based on the mother’s complaints, it is likely that David has ADHD. ADHD is a neuropsychiatric disorder.
